In the first edition of this newsletter (June 2020) I quoted Lenin who reportedly said that “there are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.” We have, it seems, been living through several decade-long weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus disease continues to rage worldwide, approaching 100 million infections. The impact has been massive from a social, economic, and political viewpoint. In the U.S., the invasion of the Capitol on January 6th provided a dark reminder on the fragility of democracy.
