Coinbase’s direct listing on April 14 (valuing the company at ~$85B) was a big milestone for the crypto industry. The reference to Netscape relates of course to the famous IPO in 1995 that started the internet or dotcom era. Silicon Valley has a tendency to hand over the baton from founder to founder, and Marc Andreessen (the poster boy from Netscape) is now a leading investor in Coinbase via his firm a16z. On the day of the direct listing, he hosted a conversation with Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsham, the founders of Coinbase, plus Emilie Choi (COO of Coinbase and board member at Napsters & ZipRecruiter).
